🔗 Share this article The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Voice Frustration Over Sizing Changes Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information. The popular resale platform has updated its size classifications for female and kids' apparel but did not contact every member regarding the update. Digital Channels Backlash Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online stating that platform listings now display a different size category than originally posted as a result of the reclassification. The company said the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces. It has advised users to review their products and adjust the sizing manually when needed, which has left users frustrated. Measurement Approach Updates Previously, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10. The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10. In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18. User Accounts Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult". "Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does. Another user, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22. "Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she stated. Required Changes A different user, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products". "This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she explained. Platform Context The platform boasts over 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members. It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop. This isn't the first time when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: previously, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
